In-Depth Kikizo Article On Project Natal

http://games.kikizo.com/features/microsoft-natal-xbox-360-why-its-a-big-deal-p1.asp Excerpt: Natal is a new peripheral for Xbox 360 that currently exists in a very early work-in-progress form. This new, 'full body motion sensing' technology may be revolutionary for interactive entertainment, and quite frankly, leaves things like EyeToy, Wii MotionPlus, and Sony's new motion sensing controllers for PS3 - also revealed last week - in the dust. Anyone who doesn't yet understand why, this article is for you. There's a lot of positive buzz about Natal, but I was surprised to see how much doubt and even indifference there is about it after talking to everyone about it over the last week. Critics and fence-sitters of Natal seem to consistently be saying one of only a few things against it. I'm going to explain why they're missing the point, and why this thing is the real deal, based on my first-hand experience with it behind closed doors, as well as chats with proj...

Yes, Project Natal Works with African Americans

The Youtube channel for Project Natal was just recently updated with more videos. http://www.youtube.com/xboxprojectnatal Here are just some of the videos there: Some time this week some misinformation was being spread on NEOGAF about how the system couldn't 'see' African Americans, citing how N'Gai Croal was having trouble with using it. There was a video on the Youtube channel with other personalities like Sugar Ray Leonard trying out the system, but many were saying that the video was 'edited' to look like they were enjoying themselves. Natal's detractors were also saying that if you watch the videos, you'll see the players crashing into walls in Burnout, hinting at serious problems with Natal. My take on this is: I didn't see any problems with the video where Sugar Ray Leonard and the others were trying out the technology. Maybe it was edited, maybe it wasn't; but it seemed to me that they were being fairly honest with their opinions about th...

Microsoft's Project Natal Has The World Talking

Kotaku recently posted an article about how Project Natal has all the buzz coming out of E3: http://kotaku.com/5280739/so-which-e3-announcements-generated-the-most-buzz Surprising to see it beat out big hitters like Super Mario and Final Fantasy XIII. Also, in Gamespot's latest poll on which press conference did gamers liked best, Microsoft's poll clearly leads the rest, with a dominating 41% of the votes: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/modules/poll_results.php?poll_id=347336&tag=poll;results&popup=1

More Incredible Stories on Project Natal

Click here for the full article: http://gizmodo.com/5277954/testing-project-natal-we-touched-the-intangible?skyline=true&s=i Here's a very interesting excerpt from the article: Burnout showcases a few important points for Microsoft. First, it's a real game that's been on the 360. So Natal doesn't weigh down on the processors so hard that you can't play games. Second, it requires fine motor control. I raised my hands in the air, mining a steering wheel. I hadn't given the system any time to scan my body after kicking Matt out, but I stepped by foot forward, signaling the gas all the same. The car accelerated. I twisted my arms. The car turned just the right amount. Microsoft had clearly tweaked the Burnout code a bit, forcing the car to feel a bit more like a powerful sedan than a street illegal beast out of some Fast and Furious sequel. And I'm guessing that Natal's ever so slight control delay was masked by the feeling of a looser-driving steering w...

Comments on Microsoft's Spectacular E3 2009 Press Conference!

MS's presscon started out slow but at some point really picked up steam. Granted, starting out with The Beatles: Rock Band is not a bad choice, but I think they spent too much time on it. Then again, EA must be a really important developer for MS, and, it is the BEATLES after all, and they deserve all the respect that they get. On to what I thought were the most mind blowing points of the show: 1. Splinter Cell Conviction - a game I'd want to play for the story. It's too bad they had to kill off Sam's daughter but I suppose that's one way to raise the drama for the game. It's obvious Ubisoft is being influenced by Konami here, they want their character to be as memorable for players as Solid Snake by adding more melodrama. At the same time, the intensity is up a notch because since Sam is no longer tied to Third Echelon, he can use all his military skills without limit to get his revenge. This game is definitely worth a buy. 2. Forza Motorsport 3 - They've d...

Minutes to E3 - Gran Turismo 5 Will Be A No Show

On the week that the world will [possibly] get a first glimpse at Forza Motorsport 3, Microsoft's answer to the Gran Turismo series on the Playstation 3, it is being announced that NO questions will be entertained regarding Gran Turismo 5. Only questions regarding Gran Turismo PSP will be entertained, apparently. Source: http://www.vg247.com/2009/06/01/rumour-yamauchi-wont-talk-gt5-at-e3/ Those interviewing Polyphony Digital legend Kazanori Yamauchi at E3 tomorrow have been told not to ask questions about Gran Turismo 5, VG247 has learned. Meaning? Well, presumably that the game du jour for the Sony car kids is going to be GT PSP only. SCEA’s John Koller confirmed GT was on the way to PSP Go in the “leaked” Qore ep this weekend, and it now looks clear the focus will be on the handheld title as far as Gran Turismo’s concerned. In my opinion....at this rate, Microsoft will probably release Forza Motorsport 5 by the time Sony is comfortable to even talk about Gran Turismo 5. Gran Tur...

Microsoft's E3 2009 Press Conference - 1:25AM Philippine Time

Do you want to watch the Microsoft E3 2009 Press Conference, live? If you're in the Philippines, you'd have to wake up at 1:25 AM Philippine Time (Tuesday morning) to catch it. A few gaming websites are hosting a streaming video feed of the conference, so just look for an available feed and watch. In other news, the MS Conference was supposed to be at 1:30AM (10:30AM in Los Angeles), but supposedly something happened sometime this weekend which prompted Microsoft to move the conference to 1:25AM (10:25AM), supposedly a last-minute change and possibly an additional announcement. What could it be?

E3 2009 Begins Next Week!

Expect the first salvo for E3 from Microsoft on TUESDAY morning Philippine Time; the first day for E3 is Monday in the US so most likely the first info out of E3 will be out by Monday evening or Tuesday early morning.

On Capcom Japan's Decision NOT To Go To E3 2009.

Here's Kotaku making too much of a big deal of Capcom Japan's decision not to go to E3 2009. I actually AGREE with Capcom Japan. I'd rather that Capcom Japan's very-talented-developers and staff not take the risk of being infected with the H1N1 virus. Personally, I can wait for Dead Rising 2 to be revealed at another time. It's not like the game itself is getting delayed. I think it's just the game journalists over at Kotaku crying over not being able to get first dibs on Capcom's upcoming games. And besides, Capcom can always organize their own press events later on this year, with much more attention directed towards them, than having to fight for attention at a noisy convention center during E3 itself. At this time, I think Capcom has the best and most talented development teams outside of the United States and Europe developing games for current generation consoles. It would be a real shame to lose them to H1N1; it's definitely NOT worth the risk for...
