Gamehopper Offering TEKKEN 6 Pre-Order Promotion

For gamers based in the Philippines, Gamehopper is now accepting pre-orders for the highly anticipated release of TEKKEN 6 for both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360! This title will cap off what has been an amazing year for fighting games.

On Fighting Games This Year....

Just sitting down pondering on all these great fighting games that came out this year. Blazblue, Street Fighter IV, then later King of Fighters XII and Tekken 6....this year is pretty unprecedented in terms of attention that the genre is getting. I remember in the late nineties, when Street Fighter II was at its prime, there was also a lot of fighting games being released by various companies. You could say that the fighting game back then was the "first person shooter" of that generation. Companies were churning them out left and right, and a lot of them were simply derivative of Street Fighter II. At some point, I think gamers just got tired of all of them. Today, I'm not too sure if fighting games will overtake the current popularity of first-person shooters with younger gamers, but the ones that are being released today are really first-rate, high quality titles that all have their own unique personality. Currently, Blazblue gets the nod for seeming to be the most ori...

Gamingvice.net Claims Tekken 6 on PS3 Has Aliasing Issues

http://gamingvice.net/2009/06/07/tekken-6-on-360-analysis-the-rematch/ "Now here’s the real kicker, if you like the staff of GamingVice.net were at E3 last week you’ll notice something very interesting about the Xbox 360 version of Tekken 6. It is graphically better than its Playstation 3 counterpart. Am I happy about this? Not at all but I find it very ironic that after all this arguing over Tekken 6’s ability to even be on the 360, it looks better as the Playstation 3 version has jagged edges." My opinion: I have both versions of Street Fighter IV for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Now, guess which version has the most visible jaggies/aliasing issues? There you have it. I wasn't really surprised that the above blogger/writer gave the same observation when comparing the Xbox 360 version with the PS3 version. Interestingly enough, if you have both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 (and YES, I do have both systems), and you download Namco-Bandai's Tekken 6 Trailer for both sys...

Manny Pacquiao Sponsored By...TEKKEN 6??!!

Spotted by my brother as we were watching the fight in HD. Check out the jacket of the guy on the left side of the screen. (Click the image to see a larger version of the picture.) Namco-Bandai games does own the trademark to the name 'Pac-Man'. So perhaps they approached him and, instead of suing for copyright or whatever, just asked for some kind of sponsorship? Or maybe the guy with the jacket is just a huge Tekken 6 fan. Who knows. Interesting bit of trivia, nonetheless. I never noticed it at all while watching the fight; the quick eyes of my brother easily spotted it during the fight introductions. If you manage to catch the HD video of the fight, you'll see that the TEKKEN 6 patch is also on the other side of the guy's jacket. (so both the left and right shoulder of the jacket he's wearing has 'TEKKEN 6' on it.) I've tried to take screenshots of the other patch but it always ends up blurry. EDIT: Here's the other side of the guy's jacket. U...

TEKKEN 6 found in Trinoma Mall

Today we visited Trinoma Mall and found a TEKKEN 6 Arcade Machine in Timezone Arena. Trinoma Mall has 2 Timezone arcades, one bigger arcade near the cinemas, and another one that's in the outside area that looks like a park (this arcade is near the Fish and Co. Restaurant). I was not able to play Tekken 6 because I didn't have a Timezone card with me this afternoon. So I just watched other players try it out. My impressions? Graphically, the game is pretty impressive. It goes at a smooth clip at 60 FPS and the game has a lot of detail in the environments. There are a lot more effects going on compared to Virtua Fighter 5 (where in Tekken 6 each punch and kick yields an electric or fire effect that makes it more flashy). The fighting model seems alright; I didn't see anyone execute one of those 'death combos' that have been talked about over on sdtekken.com. I read elsewhere that Tekken 6 runs on PS3 hardware in the arcade, so supposedly this is how the PS3 version...
