THE REMATCH: Virtua Fighter 5 WCG Philippines 2008 Finalists

These videos are a series of rematches between the two finalists from the WCG Philippines 2008 Tournament for Virtua Fighter 5. These games were played over XBOX LIVE. I'm using Jacky while Ismael is using Akira. In these set of rematches, Ismael won a *LOT* more matches than me :( So I suppose you could say that Ismael got his revenge hahaha! I did have a lot of fun because the matches weren't so laggy (we were both on PLDT) compared to my usual experience on XBL playing against opponents from other countries. I was able to record only 4 replays of our rematches; two of the matches were wins from me, while the other two were his wins. I'll be uploading some more in the days to come. NOTE: Fully retiring myself from the world of competitive gaming; no longer planning on joining any international competitions. I am interested in helping find future champions, though :) Never retiring from playing VF just for fun; more and more, it's becoming my favorite fighting game of ...

WCG 2008 VF5 Finals Videos

Haven't gotten around to actually watching the VF5 videos from Germany until today. I found these on Youtube; the video on the official WCG site was so laggy and unreliable so I had better luck finding it elsewhere. Itabashi (Japan) vs Danny13 (Singapore) Japan won the tournament; here's footage of the last two rounds. Round 1: Round 2: For third place, AdamYuki from the USA won against stprock from Germany. Here's footage from Round 2:

The show airs starting at 5:30AM and ends at around 8:30AM. We don't know when exactly they'll start interviewing us but we do know the segment will be aired live tomorrow. That means I have to get around to sleeping early...I have to wake up early at 3AM for this one :D I think some in the PXB community will be recording the segment; hopefully they'll have it up on Youtube....

WCG 2008: WCG TV on Studio 23!

The World Cyber Games 2008 Grand Finals in Cologne, Germany is due in a few months time. I noticed an update to the official Philippine site for WCG. They'll be airing a TV show entitled 'WCG TV' on Studio 23 starting on September 13. The show will be aired every Saturday at 9:00AM. I'm looking forward to seeing the show since it will have highlights from the various WCG events in the Philippines and in other countries; from the preliminary tournaments to the WCG: Asian Championship in Singapore. I also have a feeling the show will have coverage of the Grand Finals in Cologne, Germany, where the best gamers from around the world will compete in various games on both PC and Xbox 360 platforms. Stay tuned to http://ph.worldcybergames.com/ for more updates as the date for the Grand Finals draws near.... Good Luck and Best Wishes to the Philippine Team for the WCG 2008 Grand Finals!

Going to the WCG 2008: Asian Championship

I'm flying over to Singapore for the World Cyber Games: Asian Championship (which starts this Saturday). I hope it will be a good experience for me...I'm participating in the tournament for Virtua Fighter 5. It will be quite a tournament, with some of the best in the world actually competing head-to-head; No, I'm not exactly one of the best in the world...I've got no past championships or medals to my name. I'm just an avid VF player who got a good opportunity. Of course I will do my very best! I've been practicing for quite a long time now....for about 6-8 months I've dedicated my gaming to VF5 just to prepare for this tournament. I hope it pays off, and I put on a good showing. I'm not expecting to win big but I do want to play decently enough to represent the Philippines well at the games. Of course I'll aim to win but I don't want to put any guarantees or promises. I want to enjoy this experience and not be too pressured. In fact I think it w...

What It's Like To Be A Pro Gamer - Part II

This is Part II of a continuing series that chronicles the whole 'Pro Gaming' experience that I went through this year. I guess I just want to have a memento of this week; I've never been part of any big competition like this; I think it counts for a lot for me to write this down as this week passes. I've been writing these chronicles during the time near the actual dates for the Asian Championship. By the time of this writing, I haven't posted Part I yet on my blog, because I practically give away my training regimen in that post, and I think it wouldn't be smart to give away that information before the actual competition. Whether or not my practice sessions worked would probably be known by the time that I actually post this...Did I win? Did I lose? It will be fun to look back at these writings once the competitions are all over. I will say that this chronicle has little in the way of actual information on my training...it's more of an interesting anecdote...

WCG 2008: Philippine Grand Finals this July 10-13

The Philippine Finals for the World Cyber Games 2008 is almost here! It will take place on July 10-13 at the SM Mall of Asia Activity Area. It's been said that this is the largest mall in Asia. I've been there. It's very easy to get lost in there! Here's a map posted from the WCG Philippines web site: The finals for the Guitar Hero III competition will take place at this event. The best players from around the Philippines will compete for two player slots - one slot for the World Cyber Games event to be held this November in Cologne, Germany, while another slot is for the WCG Asian Championship to be held in Singapore from August 7-10 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. My understanding is that the first placer will be sent to Germany while the second place winner will be sent to Singapore. Since I won the local tournament for Virtua Fighter 5, I will be able to cover the Asian Championship in Singapore and post updates here on the ...

Earlier I posted the prizes for the WCG/ACG winners, which I based on the paper press release which Esports handed out during the press event.
