Pre-TGS 2009 - Blazblue: Continuum Shift Announced in Famitsu!

Forums such as Neogaf.com and Dustloop.com are reporting the appearance of the next update to Blazblue, titled "Blazblue: Continuum Shift". Reports say that this game will first appear in Japanese arcades some time in late September 2009, and it will add 2 new characters to the game. One of the new characters, Tsubaki Yayoi, was revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu. For more on the game, check out this thread on Dustloop.com forums.

Virtua Fighter 5R's Insanely Awesome Replay Mode

It's a real shame that Virtua Fighter 5R isn't coming to home consoles. I was watching this video on Versuscity and was amazed by this feature for watching match replays....a feature for displaying frame data! Nothing like actually seeing this in a replay....this feature looks to be quite useful for someone who wants to analyze the game at a very deep level! http://www.versuscity.net/2009/06/25/vf5r-now-supporting-frame-data-display/ Now THAT...is hardcore.

Street Fighter IV in Timezone Glorietta 4 - Impressions

We were at Glorietta 4 today and surprisingly, we spotted 2 Street Fighter IV arcade machines at Timezone Glorietta 4. They had two system-linked SF4 arcade cabinets, where each cabinet only has one set of sticks. When you start the game, you're given an option to play 'arcade mode' (which is open to challengers), 'beginner mode' and 'trial mode'. (Pictures of the unit are at the bottom of this post, if you skip the impressions). Unfortunately, the other SF4 machine wasn't working at the time that we visited, so we weren't able to play versus mode against other live players. So I was only able to try out single-player mode. Some impressions: 1. The graphics are not as good as the home versions of the game. The arcade cabinet used high definition LCD monitors, much like Tekken 6; however, compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, it seems the arcade version is running on the lowest possible graphical settings. Earlier on, there was a pers...

High Level Play in Street Fighter IV (Videos)

I found this on youtube....insanely good SFIV players from Japan. I don't recall competing online against any players that play similarly to these guys. For even more videos, double-click any of the Youtube videos below to find more (the rest of the videos are listed on the right-side panel on Youtube.com). Hey, it's Itazan! Hehehe, met him during last year's World Cyber Games for Virtua Fighter 5.

Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion Spotted in Philippine Arcades!

Namco / Bandai loves the Philippines....or maybe, Timezone loves Namco. Because they've already gotten Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion machines in. Me and my wife spotted them at SM Megamall Timezone, Basement Level. Most likely T6BR is also already playable in most other local Timezone arcades. I think these T6BR machines just arrived today, considering most people were being greeted by a 'DATA TRANSFER' screen (which let you upgrade your older T6 data). Thanks Namco-Bandai for knowing where the Philippines is on the world map :) Unlike some other game companies......... ***** Little tidbit....I also spotted a VF5 machine in World of Fun, which was just next door to Timezone. No, it didn't have any of those fancy Data Card readers where you could dress up your character. It was a really plain machine where you could just play VF5. Apparently nobody has touched the game considering the scoreboard was empty. So I completed one run through the game and added my initials to t...
