Pinoyxbox Downtime Advisory

Just posting this in case the Pinoyxbox forums go down.... Recently the site has been getting a significant increase in traffic, perhaps because of increased interest with the Xbox 360 platform in the Philippines. If you're visiting Pinoyxbox and the site is down, we apologize; it seems to be something that is beyond our control at the moment, so please be patient. Usually the site will go up again after a few hours. Thanks for your patience; and we hope that you guys will continue to support the Pinoyxbox forum.

Killzone 2 Demo - First Impressions!

Image
Just finished playing the Killzone 2 demo - first impressions: - Graphics are very well done; lots of stuff happening in the background, lots of explosions, particle effects, smoke, etc. 'Cinematic' is the best word to describe it. It's the first word in my mind the moment you step off into the world of the game. - Gameplay seems okay; perhaps it would be better if I had a Dual shock controller. I'm still using the Sixaxis controller that came with my PS3. - If I had one thing to complain about, it would have to be the cover system: Press L2 to cover, then... Press UP on the stick to look around (or left or right if you have to look on the left or right wall) Now, note that you CAN'T let go of L2 unless you want to leave cover. If you let go of L2, your character removes himself from cover and you're exposed again. L2 is also the CROUCH button so it gets slightly confusing for me. Now, to aim while in cover, you press L2, UP/LEFT/RIGHT, AND click the right thumb...

Killzone 2 Demo on UK PSN Store

Image
The Killzone 2 Demo is up on the UK PSN store; it's 1207MB. It will be up officially for North America and Europe on February 26. What is Sony thinking??? They should get this game available to as many people as possible, right now. I don't think should have just limited its release to Europe only. They need a lot of buzz for their game, and it isn't helping that they had to have some weird release schedule for their demo like this. From what I've read, there doesn't seem to be anything stopping anyone from making a European PSN account to download the demo.... hmm....

THE REMATCH: Virtua Fighter 5 WCG Philippines 2008 Finalists

These videos are a series of rematches between the two finalists from the WCG Philippines 2008 Tournament for Virtua Fighter 5. These games were played over XBOX LIVE. I'm using Jacky while Ismael is using Akira. In these set of rematches, Ismael won a *LOT* more matches than me :( So I suppose you could say that Ismael got his revenge hahaha! I did have a lot of fun because the matches weren't so laggy (we were both on PLDT) compared to my usual experience on XBL playing against opponents from other countries. I was able to record only 4 replays of our rematches; two of the matches were wins from me, while the other two were his wins. I'll be uploading some more in the days to come. NOTE: Fully retiring myself from the world of competitive gaming; no longer planning on joining any international competitions. I am interested in helping find future champions, though :) Never retiring from playing VF just for fun; more and more, it's becoming my favorite fighting game of ...

Misleading Article on Street Fighter IV: Setting the Record Straight

Image
Here's another prime example of game journalism at its very finest... If you don't pay too much attention, you would think that the extra characters Sakura, Cammy, etc., and the Training/Challenge mode, are exclusive to the Playstation 3 version. They're NOT. The article is carefully worded so that, technically, they're right. The additional features mentioned in the article are console-exclusive , meaning that they're not in the Arcade version of Street Fighter IV. But because it's a Playstation magazine, they can say that these features are 'Playstation 3 Exclusive'. So, technically, they aren't lying....but it's clear that there's a hidden agenda with the headline; obviously to make the upcoming Xbox 360 version seem like it's not going to come with the same features as the Playstation 3 version. To set the record straight, here are several articles/screens/videos which prove that the Xbox 360 version and the Playstation 3 version are...

VFDC Campaign To Get Virtua Fighter 5R for Consoles

Image
With Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion around the corner for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3, it's surprising to me that SEGA has not yet made any announcements regarding the latest in their very own premiere fighting series, Virtua Fighter 5R. The game has been out for a long while now in Japan, yet has not received any sort of announcement for home consoles. As a player who has enjoyed Virtua Fighter 5 for the Xbox 360, I think that the game initially didn't do well because it was made exclusive by Sega for the Playstation 3 first. Had they went with a simultaneous multiplatform release, they may have gotten more hype and more sales for their game. Also, it would have actually helped the game if the improvements for the Xbox 360 version, such as online play and more intelligent Expert A.I., were also given to the Playstation 3 version. Lastly, SEGA could have gotten more sales for the game if it had a few other elements to make it more popular; in p...

Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion Spotted in Philippine Arcades!

Image
Namco / Bandai loves the Philippines....or maybe, Timezone loves Namco. Because they've already gotten Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion machines in. Me and my wife spotted them at SM Megamall Timezone, Basement Level. Most likely T6BR is also already playable in most other local Timezone arcades. I think these T6BR machines just arrived today, considering most people were being greeted by a 'DATA TRANSFER' screen (which let you upgrade your older T6 data). Thanks Namco-Bandai for knowing where the Philippines is on the world map :) Unlike some other game companies......... ***** Little tidbit....I also spotted a VF5 machine in World of Fun, which was just next door to Timezone. No, it didn't have any of those fancy Data Card readers where you could dress up your character. It was a really plain machine where you could just play VF5. Apparently nobody has touched the game considering the scoreboard was empty. So I completed one run through the game and added my initials to t...
